Our Beliefs
WE BELIEVE … There is only one God who exists forever as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (known as the Trinity). We believe that He has revealed Himself not only as the Father of all creation, but He has also been revealed through His only begotten Son Jesus (Col. 1:15, John 1:1,14; Jude 25). And God continues to reveal Himself through His Holy Spirit (John 15:26; Acts 5:3-4). (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 5:48, Matthew 28:19)
WE BELIEVE … Jesus Christ was and is true God and true Man. He was conceived in a supernatural way by means of the Holy Spirit of God. He was born to a virgin named Mary. He was crucified (nailed to a cross), buried and resurrected three days later. His death, burial and resurrection are the cornerstone beliefs of Christians (I Cor. 15: 12-20). Because He was perfect in every way, Jesus was the only one worthy to take the place of judgment and satisfy God’s justice (propitiation) for all who have and will place their faith in Him. Everyone who calls upon the name of Jesus Christ and believes in Him is made right with God because of His death, burial and resurrection. Jesus is the only path to God and is “the Way, the Truth and the Life.” He is now at the right hand of the Father in heaven and is our “go between”. He will come to the earth again physically to establish his kingdom, where righteousness and peace will reign. (Philippians 2:6-11; Luke 1:36-38; I Peter 3:18; Hebrews 2:9; Romans 3:25; 5:9, 10:13; John 14:6; Acts 2:23-24; Hebrews 8:1; Matthew 26:64)
WE BELIEVE … The Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to live in, guide, teach, comfort, counsel and empower everyone who trusts in Jesus. He also works to convict people of their sin, to reveal God’s righteousness, and to show that the judgment of God will one day come. (John 14:15-18, John 16:13, Acts 1:9; John 16:7-11)
WE BELIEVE … The Old and New Testaments contained no faults as they were originally given and were verbally inspired by God. They are a complete picture of His will for the salvation of men. The scriptures are the only guide from God about how we should live and carry out the Christian faith. (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:15-16)
WE BELIEVE … Mankind was originally created in the image and likeness of God but rebelled through disobedience, which resulted in physical and spiritual death. All people are born with a sinful nature, are separated from a relationship with God because of that sin, and can be reconciled with God and “saved” from eternal separation from God only through faith in the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ in their place. Those who choose not to trust in Christ will one day be in conscious torment, separate from God in a physical and literal place called “hell.” Those who choose to trust in Christ will one day be united with God in everlasting joy for eternity in a physical and literal place called “heaven.” (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23; Revelation 21:8, Revelation 21:1-4)
WE BELIEVE… Salvation (forgiveness) has been provided through Jesus Christ for all people; and those who repent of their sins and believe in Him are made into new people by the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God. (Romans 10:9-13; Titus 3:4-7)
WE BELIEVE … It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit and be completely set apart for God’s work. They are to be separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God. This enables them to receive power for holy living and effective service. (1 Thessalonians 5:23; Acts 1:8; Romans 6:1-14)
WE BELIEVE … The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Leader (“head”) of the Church and believers are His “body.” The Church has been sent by Him to go into the world as a witness, preaching the good news of forgiveness to all nations. The local church is a group of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for growth through learning and applying the Bible, for prayer, community, the advancement of the Gospel, and the practice of Baptism and Communion (Lord’s Supper). (Ephesians 1:22-23; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-47)
WE BELIEVE … There will be a bodily resurrection of every person. Those who have trusted in Jesus Christ will be raised to a new life. Those who have not trusted in Jesus Christ will be raised for eternal judgment. (1 Corinthians 15:20-23; John 5:28-29)
WE BELIEVE … Jesus Christ will return to the earth physically, and it could happen at any moment. His return will be personal and visible. The reality of His return gives believers in Jesus hope and is a vital truth that motivates us toward holy living and faithful service.
