Tracy

tracy.jpgMy name is Tracy.

For almost my entire life I have been addicted to alcohol. I may have been sober for five years.

For as long as I can remember my life has been unmanageable and hopeless. The worst day of my life was being awakened by the police early one morning on the street and knowing I had no place to go.

I was isolated, lonely and without friends. Because of my alcohol-related behavior I had burned all bridges to my family.

I had lost everything.

I always worked. But I worked to buy alcohol. That was my life: drink, work, drink, work. I thank God that one day He directed my steps to the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission where my heart could be transformed.

For too long I numbed my pain with alcohol. Now, when I have those same emotions of loneliness and despair, I have someone to talk to: “someone who understands.”

I’ve now made the commitment to let God take control of my life. I guess He was trying to get my attention for many years.

But I just wouldn’t listen. I’m now convinced it’s been only the love of Christ and the caring of the Mission staff that could have brought me to my senses.

The longer I’m here the more I also realize that you who donate your money and time are the life blood of the Mission. You’ve already given me so many opportunities to get my life together.

And honestly, I really am trying to do the right thing. I hope you’ll pray that I’ll stay close to the Lord in the days ahead.

I can’t thank you enough for your kindness.
