“Klothes 4 Kids” is an annual event organized by the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission that distributes new and like clothing to low-income families across Northern Nevada.
Since its inception, “Klothes 4 Kids” has helped more than 1,900 children by supplying them with 24,000 articles of quality clothing for their school years.
From kindergartners to pre-teens, children of all shapes and sizes annually “shop until they drop” during the daylong event, usually held the last weekend of August. Depending on the amount of clothing collected, each child can select several full outfits, including long- and short-sleeved shirts, pants, dresses, underwear, socks and shoes.
The clothes are sorted by size and hung neatly on clothing racks, giving that special feeling that families are “shopping” as volunteers lead them around the racks.
“Klothes 4 Kids” is a large event and one that receives
tremendous support from several local businesses, including KRNV
News-4, Harley Davidson of Reno, Park Lane Mall, Wells Fargo
Bank and Kmart.
And, of course, individual volunteers help make the day possible
as they give of their time and energy to organize and welcome the
families to “Klothes 4 Kids.”
Plans
for future “Klothes 4 Kids” events are on-going, and
we hope you will join us in bringing this very special event to the
children of Northern Nevada.
